Supportive Government Initiatives to Boost Agritourism Worldwide

The prominence of agritourism is growing rapidly across the world with surge in interest toward farming activities, products, and innovative practices along with the launch of new initiatives by governments. These new initiatives promote the local farming and agriculture activities and aim to provide a much-needed economic boost to local farming, ranching, and other communities related to the agriculture sector. Peter Michalko, the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, stated that the demand for services in agritourism increased by nearly 60% in the EU countries over the past decade. In a report that discussed the growth of the agritourism in Azerbaijan, Michalko highlighted that agritourism increased the economic opportunities to the youth of the country and led to development of rural districts.

Azerbaijan is not the only country to take different initiatives to boost the agritourism in the country. Different government authorities in India and the U.S. launched their initiatives to provide opportunities for the local agriculture sector by attracting tourists. A tourism network has been set up to strengthen the agritourism sector in the Indian State. Moreover, an app will be launched by one of the foundations in the U.S. to help tourists find farm and ranch venues and avail authentic experiences. Moreover, it will offer exposure for farmers, ranchers, and managers to huge number of tourists and connect in-person. According to the report published by Allied Market Research, the global agritourism market is expected to reach $62.98 billion by 2027. Following are some of the activities taking place across the world.

Governments of different countries have been taking various initiatives to promote agritourism and boost the economic growth for local farmers. In Indian state Kerala, the State Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas launched the Kerala Agri Tourism Network-Farm Tourism. This initiative is a part of Responsible Tourism (RT) project and aims to offer monetary growth to people working in the agricultural sector. It combines the farming activities with the tourism and trains manpower for consolidating the agritourism in the state.

The minister highlighted that the traditional agricultural practices have been taking into consideration while designing the Agri Tourism Network. Moreover, this initiative is expected to educate national and foreign tourist about the farming culture of Kerala. Under the initiative, the authorities will undertake the task of setting up 500 farm tourism units along with 5,000 homestay farms by the end of March 2023. In addition, agritourism activities will be conducted in such a way that no farming activities will be harmed. Such Responsible Tourism initiatives would boost the local economy along with promoting the traditions of Kerala.

Among different initiatives taken by government authorities to promote agritourism, developing an app and listing the venues for agritourism is one of the best initiatives. The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture created an app that consists of information regarding agritourism venues. The authority developed the American Farm Trail app to enable farmers, ranchers, and farm managers to register their venues and attract tourists. They can create their profiles on the app and connect with tourists through display of their sites, history, available products, and others. Tourists will be able to search based upon locations, products, and attractions. The Foundation is expected to launch the app by the spring of 2022.

Daniel Meloy, the Executive Director of the Foundation, highlighted that the Foundation aims to offer resources to connect agritourism businesses with consumers. It plans to offer an authentic experience to consumers such as picking an apple, hunting a pumpkin, or meeting a farmer who put efforts and time in growing something. The Farm Trail app is expected to provide huge opportunities ranchers and farmers to gain wide exposure to tourists and connect in-person with tourists. These initiatives also aim to build a positive perception about agriculture in the eyes of people.

Complete Guide To Chicken Feed Formulation

The common ingredients are whole maize, maize bran, cotton seed cake, soya beans, sunflower and fishmeal (omena). In addition, farmers need to add several feed additives (micronutrients, minerals and vitamins) to ensure their birds have a balanced feed that meets their daily nutrient requirements. Ingredients are cheaply available, especially after the harvesting season. Depending on the cost of ingredients, farmers who make their own feeds at home save between 30 to 50% for every 70kg bag of chicken feed, depending on the source of their raw materials. Due to government regulation, major feed companies have reduced the standard quantity of feed from 70kg to 50kg per bag, but the price of feed still remains almost the same. This means that farmers who are able to make their own feeds make great savings on feeds which take up to 80% of the production costs. To formulate feed, farmers have to use the Pearson Square Method . In this method, the Digestible Crude Protein (DCP) is ...
